What Leonardo AI actually offers students
Leonardo's own pricing FAQ states discounts are not applied by default for self-serve users; custom pricing and per-model discounts go through their Custom Deals form. There is no student verification flow and no .edu rate on the pricing page. The Leonardo Creator Program (free subscription + early access) is the closest thing to a sponsored tier, but applications are on hold with a waitlist - and it targets creators, not students.
What students do instead
- The free tier is generous. 150 fast tokens daily - real students doing real projects often never need a paid plan.
- Pay-as-you-go avoids a subscription. Leonardo's PAYG credits never expire - load once, spend across the semester.
- Yearly billing saves 20%. If you do subscribe, annual beats monthly.
If you are not eligible - the cheaper route
Leonardo's free plan gives 150 fast tokens every day - one of the more usable free tiers in AI image generation.
And if what you actually need is AI help across the board - writing, research, images, video, coding - a single-tool discount is still a single tool. Krater's student offer takes 15% off for a year on a workspace that bundles 500+ models for a flat $20/month list price. Compare Leonardo AI's full pricing with Krater's plans before deciding.
