Claude Skills Marketplace: Where to Download Skills

Claude Skills Marketplace: Where to Download Skills

No single official store exists. The real map: Anthropic's directory, skillsmp, GitHub lists and Krater's built-ins - plus the safety check that matters.

Claude Skills Marketplace: Where to Download Skills

1. Inside Claude itself

Under Customize > Skills on claude.ai you get Anthropic's own skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, PDF) plus a partner directory - Notion, Figma, Atlassian and others publish official skills there. Team and Enterprise owners can also provision skills to their whole org from the same place. This is the only "official" marketplace, and it is deliberately small.

2. skillsmp.com

The biggest community catalog right now and the top organic result for this query. Thousands of community-submitted skills, browsable by category, downloadable as folders. Quality varies - treat it like an app store with no review process: great finds, no guarantees.

3. GitHub lists

GitHub is the highest-signal source: you can read the full SKILL.md before installing, check stars and history, and copy only what you need.

4. Smaller catalogs and blogs

claudeskillsmarket.com, augmentclaude.com, agent37 and happyskills.ai all run directories or lists. Useful for discovery; same caution applies.

5. Krater's built-in library

Different model: instead of a catalog you curate from, Krater ships six reviewed example skills in Settings > Skills - blog-seo-audit, competitor-watch, linkedin-post, meeting-prep, rfp-response, weekly-digest - each a one-click copy into your library. Any SKILL.md you download from the sources above can also be uploaded into the same tab, so the community catalogs and Krater are not either/or.

How installing a downloaded skill works

The safety check that actually matters

A skill can contain scripts that Claude executes. That makes a downloaded skill closer to installing a browser extension than to bookmarking a prompt. Before enabling one: read the entire SKILL.md, look at any bundled scripts, and be suspicious of instructions that tell Claude to exfiltrate data or ignore your other instructions. Krater enforces this with a trust gate - a skill is invisible to the model until you explicitly acknowledge trusting it - which is the right default regardless of platform.

Or skip the marketplace entirely

If you cannot find the skill you want, the fastest route is making it. On Krater that is one prompt: describe the procedure, approve the card, done (we timed it at 39 seconds and ~2.5 credits). On Claude you can ask it to draft the SKILL.md, then package it yourself. Full walkthrough: how to create a Claude skill.

We build Krater, so obviously we list our own library here - but skillsmp and the GitHub lists genuinely are the biggest sources today and pretending otherwise would be worse marketing.

FAQ

Is there an official Claude skills marketplace?

Sort of - the partner directory inside Customize > Skills (Notion, Figma, Atlassian etc.) is the official channel. There is no Anthropic-run public store for community skills.

Are marketplace skills safe?

They can be, but a skill can run scripts. Read the SKILL.md and any bundled code before enabling; only enable what you understand.

Can I use a downloaded skill on Krater?

Yes - skills use the open Agent Skills standard. Upload the SKILL.md in Settings > Skills and it works across 400+ models.

Do Claude skills work in ChatGPT or Gemini?

Not natively - they do not implement the standard. On Krater they effectively do, since the same skill is available to every model on the platform.
