Your chats, organized

Every conversation in Krater saves automatically to your account the moment you send a message. Chats get a short title generated from their content and live in the sidebar, sorted by latest activity. Pin, rename, group into projects, share or delete them at any time.

The sidebar

Manage a conversation

Open the ⋮ menu on any sidebar row (right-click works too), or the three-dot menu in the open chat’s header:

Action What it does
Settings Per-chat AI behavior: toggle the Krater Agent, set a custom system prompt, or set a custom temperature (0-2)
Share Invite people, create an invite link, or publish a public copy (see below)
Rename Type a new title, replaces the auto-generated one
Pin / Unpin Keep the chat in the Pinned section (per device)
Move to project File the chat under a project, or remove it from one
Schedule as task Turn the chat into a scheduled agent run (header menu, paid plans)
Delete Permanently deletes the conversation after a confirmation. There is no undo

Titles generate automatically from your first messages, so a descriptive opener gives you a better title. Rename anytime.

Search everything (Cmd/Ctrl + K)

Press Cmd + K (Mac) or Ctrl + K (Windows/Linux), or click Search in the sidebar, to open the command palette. It searches across:

From the palette:

Projects: folders with shared context

Projects group chats that belong together: a client, a trip, a research topic. Create one from a chat’s ⋮ menu → Move to project → New project, or from the Projects section in the sidebar.

Every project gets a name, icon and color, or pick a preset category like Work, Coding, Travel or Writing. Open a project to manage:

From the project page you can ask a question across selected chats, or across all chats in the project. Useful for “what did we decide about X?”

Deleting a project deletes its instructions and files, but the chats inside are kept and moved back to your main list.

Share a conversation

Open ⋮ → Share on a sidebar row or in the chat header. Four ways to share:

Method Who can open it What they can do
Email invite The person you invited Can view reads the chat; Can edit can also send messages in it
Invite link Anyone you give the link to Same view/edit choice; turn the link off anytime
Public link Anyone, no sign-in needed Read-only snapshot of the chat
Team Every member of a team you belong to View and reply

Notes on public links:

Chats shared with you appear under Shared with you. As a participant you can pin the chat or leave it; renaming, deleting and settings stay with the owner.

Import and export

Moving to Krater from another AI? Settings → Data & Privacy → Import conversations accepts:

Already-imported chats are skipped, so re-running an import is safe.

To take your data out, use Export all data on the same tab. It downloads all your conversations and data as JSON.
